What's O2?
We use the terms O2 and O2 CMS interchangeably. What is O2, anyway? Where does it come from?
O2 is second generation OSAS, the Onsite Solutions Application System. Back in 1999 we introduced it as our first, state-of-the-art publishing system.
In 2004 we started a complete rewrite of OSAS, and we named it O2. It grew into a complete development framework that we use today to develop our own and our customer's products.
O2, the framework, is written in Perl. Perl is often referred to as the duct tape that holds the internet together, much due to the fact that it has long been the most popular scripting language for the web. Perl's strength lies in that it is founded on the powerful ability to use regular expressions to parse large volumes of text. And it is extremely effective at that.
O2 is in many ways a natural extension of Perl. It is a complete MVC-based framework developed by senior professionals with years of experience with internet technology.
One of the benchmarks we use to ensure that O2 is up to par with our standards, is our own product LinkPulse, itself based on the O2 framework. LinkPulse is a resource-demanding application that parses hundreds of millions of clicks from websites all over Northern Europe every day. And it reports back to their editors within minutes. That means processing a lot of data in a very short period of time. It tells us our framework can be counted upon when scalability ever is an issue.
The content management system, O2 CMS, is what most are familiar with, when we talk about O2. The flexibility of our framework is overtly present in the administration interface of our CMS. When we write your custom application we easily integrate it with the CMS, making content sharing cost-effective and easy to manage.
When you want to create the perfect internet application, you'll find the power and flexibility you need in O2. It will make you feel confident that we will provide the technological starting point to "Just add creativity!"
